Why use Port Scanner?

Port Scanner probes a single host against a built-in list of 14 well-known ports. When you enter a hostname or IP and press Scan, the tool fires a browser fetch at each port at the same time, waits up to 2 seconds for each, and then labels every port open, filtered, or closed. The ports covered are the ones most people actually care about: FTP, SSH, Telnet, SMTP, DNS, HTTP, POP3, IMAP, HTTPS, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redis, HTTP Alt, and MongoDB, each shown with its service name beside the number so the list stays easy to read. Everything happens client-side. No API call to our servers performs the scan and nothing about the target is stored on our end, which also means the results are bounded by what a browser is allowed to do. Cross-origin and CORS restrictions can cause a port that is genuinely open to come back as filtered or closed, so the interface includes a visible warning that browser-based scanning is limited and points you to nmap for accurate network scanning. Treat this as a fast, zero-install first look, not a security audit. You should only scan hosts you own or have explicit permission to test, and because the probe runs in your browser, the host you type stays on your machine. The workflow is deliberately minimal: one Host / IP Address field, one Scan button that also fires on Enter, and a color-coded results list. Open ports show in green, filtered in yellow, and closed in grey. There is no port range box, no custom port entry, and no multi-host batching, so if you need any of those you will move on to a dedicated command-line scanner after this quick pass.

Frequently asked questions

Which ports does it scan?

A fixed list of 14 common ports: FTP (21), SSH (22), Telnet (23), SMTP (25), DNS (53), HTTP (80), POP3 (110), IMAP (143), HTTPS (443), MySQL (3306), PostgreSQL (5432), Redis (6379), HTTP Alt (8080), and MongoDB (27017). You cannot add a custom port or a range.

Are the results reliable?

Not fully. The scan runs from your browser using fetch in no-cors mode, which is constrained by cross-origin rules, so a port shown as filtered or closed may still be reachable by other means. The tool displays an in-app warning about this and recommends nmap for real network scanning.

What do open, filtered, and closed mean here?

The port is marked open when the browser request completes, closed when the 2-second timeout aborts the request first, and filtered when the request fails for some other reason before the timeout.

Is this legal to use, and is my data uploaded?

Scanning hosts you own or have explicit permission to test is a legitimate diagnostic task, and you should only scan targets you are authorized to check; the scan runs entirely in your browser, so the host you type is never sent to or stored on our servers.

Can I scan an internal or local IP?

You can enter an internal address such as 192.168.1.1, but browser security and CORS often block or skew results for local hosts, so treat any output as a rough hint rather than a definitive answer.

Does it scan a range of ports or multiple hosts at once?

No. It checks one host at a time against the same 14 predefined ports. There is no port range input and no batch or multi-host mode.
