The default "Keep aspect ratio" checkbox links the two boxes, meaning a change to one is used to recalculate the other from the original proportions and keep the picture from looking pinched. Clear that checkbox and the two values become fully independent for a deliberate stretch or a fixed frame. Pressing Resize Image paints your picture onto an off-screen canvas at the target width and height, then renders a preview directly under the controls. The Download button saves that render as a JPEG encoded at 0.92 quality, with a filename of resized_ plus your original name. Because the export is JPEG regardless of the input, a transparent PNG comes out flattened onto a filled background rather than retaining its transparency, which is worth knowing before you resize logos or cutouts. Does this tool upload my image anywhere?

No. Every step runs in your browser through the canvas element. The file is read from your device and never sent to a server, so nothing is stored or transmitted.

What format does the downloaded file come out as?

Always a JPEG at 0.92 quality, whether you loaded a JPG, PNG, or WebP. The saved file is named resized_ followed by your original filename.

How do I stop the picture from looking stretched?

Leave Keep aspect ratio checked. While it is on, typing a new width sets the matching height from the original proportions, and typing a height sets the width, so nothing gets distorted.

Can I resize a batch of images together?

No. Each pass handles a single loaded file. Resize and download it, press Clear, then bring in the next picture.

Can I force a completely custom width and height?

Yes. Uncheck Keep aspect ratio and you can enter any Width (px) and Height (px) values on their own, even if the result looks squeezed.

Will entering bigger numbers than the original sharpen the image?

No. Larger dimensions stretch the existing pixels across the canvas, which cannot invent new detail and tends to look soft. The tool is at its best when reducing size.
