Why use IP Checker?

IP Checker answers a single practical question: what public IP address and location does the internet currently see for me? When the page opens it reads the IP from your request, sends it to a geolocation service, and lays out the results in labeled cards. Your address is displayed prominently at the top, followed by whatever location data is available, including country, region, city, the organization or ISP that owns the address, timezone, and approximate latitude and longitude. Fields that come back empty are hidden so the view stays uncluttered. This is legitimately useful for confirming your own connection details, for example verifying a VPN is masking your real location, checking why a site serves the wrong regional version, or copying your current IP to hand to a support desk. The lookup runs server-side: an API route reads your public IP from the request headers and queries ipapi.co for the geolocation, so the address is used only to complete this one lookup and is not retained by the tool. It only ever reports on the connection making the request, not on someone else's, and there is no field to enter an arbitrary address. There is one control on the page, a Refresh button, which re-runs both the IP detection and the geolocation. That makes before-and-after comparisons easy: check your IP, switch a VPN on or reconnect, then refresh to see the country and organization update. Because everything is automatic and read-only, there are no files to upload, no batches to queue, and nothing to configure.

Frequently asked questions

Whose IP address does this show?

It shows your own public IP, the address your current connection presents to the internet. It reads that address from your request and does not let you type in a different IP to look up.

Is my IP checked in the browser or on a server?

On a server. The page calls an API route that reads your public IP from the request headers and queries the ipapi.co geolocation service, then returns the result to display. It is used only to perform this lookup and is not stored by the tool.

Why is my city or ISP slightly off?

Geolocation is derived from the address block your provider uses, so the city, region, and organization reflect that block rather than your exact street address. Coordinates are approximate and blank fields are simply left out.

How do I recheck after turning on a VPN?

Toggle your VPN, then click Refresh. The tool re-detects your public IP and re-runs the geolocation, so you can confirm the country and organization changed.

Does it work for IPv6?

Yes. Whatever public address your connection presents, IPv4 or IPv6, is what gets detected and looked up.

Is it free and does it need an account?
