What is my public IP address?
Your public IP address is the address your internet provider assigns to your connection, visible to every website you visit. The checker reads it from the incoming request and looks it up to show country, region, city, organisation or ISP, timezone, and approximate coordinates. Location comes from the ISP's records, so it can be off by a city.
Why is my IP location wrong?
IP geolocation maps an address to where the internet provider registered it, not to your device's GPS, so it often shows the provider's regional hub rather than your street or even your city. Mobile networks and VPNs push the result further away, and a VPN deliberately shows the server's location instead of yours.
