Validating an email address has two levels: the syntax must be well-formed, and the domain must have MX records able to receive mail. Both can pass while the specific mailbox still does not exist - only sending a message proves deliverability for certain.

Why use Email Validator?

Most invalid email addresses fail for one of two reasons: a formatting mistake (a missing @ symbol, an invalid character) or a domain that simply can't receive mail (no MX records configured). Checking both catches the large majority of bad addresses before you rely on them, without needing to actually attempt a send. What this can't do is confirm a specific mailbox exists at a valid domain - that level of verification isn't reliably possible without attempting delivery, since most mail servers don't expose that information to a simple check. Treat a passing result as "this address is plausible and its domain can receive mail," not an absolute guarantee of deliverability.
