How to use Time Card Calculator

Select Weekly (7 days) or Biweekly (14 days). Biweekly overtime is calculated separately for each workweek, not across all 14 days.

Frequently asked questions

How is overtime calculated?

By default this tool uses federal FLSA rules: hours over 40 in a workweek count as overtime at 1.5× (or your chosen multiplier). Enable California mode for daily rules: over 8 hours in a day at 1.5×, over 12 hours at 2×.

Does biweekly mode pool 80 hours for overtime?

No. Each 7-day block is its own workweek. Overtime is never calculated across all 14 days together, which would be incorrect under FLSA.

What if my shift crosses midnight?

Enter the clock-out time on the next calendar day (e.g. in at 22:00, out at 06:00). The calculator adds 24 hours when out is earlier than in.

Is my data saved or uploaded?

No. All math runs locally in your browser. Refreshing the page clears your entries unless you print or copy the results first.

What does 15-minute rounding do?

It rounds each shift length to the nearest 15 minutes before subtracting breaks, matching the common employer 7-minute rule (7 min down, 8 min up).

Can I export my time card?

Yes. Use Print / Save as PDF on the totals section. Your browser print dialog can save a PDF of the hours summary.
