Days Calculator

This free Days Calculator counts the calendar days between two dates, shows the span as weeks and days, and gives a Monday-Friday business-days count. It can also add or subtract any number of days from a date and show the resulting date with its weekday.

Total days count the start date but not the end date. Business days include both dates (the same rule as a spreadsheet's NETWORKDAYS), count Monday–Friday only, and don't exclude public holidays, which vary by country and region. Today is -.

Count Days Between Two Dates

The Tools Kit's free Days Calculator answers two everyday date questions: how many days are there between two dates, and what date is it a set number of days from now. Enter a start and end date to get the total calendar days, the same span in weeks and days, and a Monday-Friday business-days count. Or pick a date, choose Add or Subtract, and enter a number of days to find the date before or after it, shown with its day of the week.

Total days = end date − start date. From October 1 to December 25, 2026 is 85 days, or 12 weeks and 1 day, with 62 business days. Everything is worked out in your browser, and every date field starts on today's date so a "days from today" count needs only one change.

How to Use the Days Calculator

  1. 1

    Choose a mode

Pick "Days between two dates" to measure a span, or "Add or subtract days from a date" to find a future or past date.

  2. 2

    Enter the dates

Set a start date and an end date, or a start date plus a direction (Add or Subtract) and a number of days. Every date field starts on today’s date.

  3. 3

    Read the result

Between mode shows total days (labelled "End date not counted"), the same span as weeks and days, and a Monday-Friday business-days count (labelled "Start and end dates included"). Add/subtract mode shows the resulting date with its weekday.

Results update as soon as you change a date or a number. The number of days must be a whole number of 0 or more; use the Direction menu to go backwards. A result that would land outside the years 1 to 9999 shows a message instead of a date. There is no account and no limit on how many dates you check.

Is the End Date Included? Inclusive vs Exclusive Counts

The most common reason two date calculators disagree by one day is whether the end date is counted. This tool counts the start date but not the end date, so January 1 to January 31 is 30 days and the same date entered twice is 0 days. That matches how people count nights in a hotel stay, the length of a loan term, or the time left until an event. The business-days figure follows the opposite rule and includes both dates, and each result card is labelled with the rule it uses so the two are not confused.

Some periods are defined inclusively, where both the first and last day count, such as a leave request from Monday to Friday or a notice period that runs "through" a certain date. For those, add 1 to the total-days result: January 1 through January 31 inclusive is 31 days. When you need an age rather than a day count, the age calculator gives years, months and days from a date of birth instead.

Business Days Between Two Dates

Contracts, shipping estimates and payment terms are often written in business days rather than calendar days. The business-days result counts every Monday through Friday in your range, and it includes both the start and end dates when they fall on a weekday. Monday to Friday of one week therefore shows 4 total days but 5 business days, and a full year from January 1 to December 31, 2026 contains 261 weekdays.

Public holidays are not removed, because they vary by country, state and employer. Subtract any holidays inside your range by hand. The add and subtract mode always moves by calendar days, weekends included, so it does not skip to the next working day. For tracking actual hours worked on those days, use the time card calculator, and for pay on hours beyond a normal week, the overtime calculator.

Add or Subtract Days From a Date

To find a date in the future or the past, switch modes, set a start date, choose Add or Subtract, and enter a number of days. The result shows the full date with its weekday, so you can see at a glance whether a deadline lands on a weekend.

  • 30 days from October 1, 2026 — Saturday, October 31, 2026
  • 90 days from October 1, 2026 — Wednesday, December 30, 2026
  • 45 days before October 1, 2026 — Monday, August 17, 2026

Month lengths and leap years are handled for you: February 1 to March 1 is 29 days in 2024 but 28 days in 2026. For a pregnancy timeline measured in weeks from a last period, the due date calculator is built for that job, and if a deadline is set in another city's local time, check it with the time zone converter. Developers who need the same date as a Unix value can convert it with the timestamp converter.

Common uses

  • Counting down the days until a birthday, wedding, holiday or exam
  • Working out how many days are left before a contract, visa or subscription ends
  • Finding the due date 30, 60 or 90 days after an invoice date
  • Counting weekdays in a project phase or school term
  • Checking how many days have passed since an event or a start date
  • Planning a trip length before setting a budget

Once you know how many days a trip lasts, the vacation budget calculator turns that length into a spending plan. More date, money and health tools are collected on the calculators page.

How do you calculate the number of days between two dates?

To count days between two dates, subtract the earlier from the later and count the calendar days in between, including leap days. Whether the end date itself counts depends on what you are measuring - notice periods usually include it, while age and duration calculations usually do not.
