Why use Discount Calculator?

Enter an original price and a discount percentage and the calculator applies the discount directly: sale price equals the original price times one minus the discount. Add a second, stacked discount, such as an extra coupon applied at checkout on top of an already-discounted price, and the tool applies it to the already-discounted price rather than the original, which is how stacked discounts actually work at checkout. It reports the final sale price, the total dollar amount you save, and the combined effective percentage off, which is usually smaller than simply adding the two percentages together. Frequently asked questions

How is the stacked discount calculated?

The stacked discount is applied to the price after the first discount, not to the original price. For example, 20% off followed by a 10% stacked discount is not the same as 30% off; it comes out to slightly less savings.

What currency does this calculator use?

Do I have to enter a stacked discount?
