How the line-by-line comparison works
Both texts are split on line breaks and aligned so an inserted or deleted line does not cascade a "changed" flag onto every line that follows it — a paragraph added in the middle of Text B shows up as one addition, not as dozens of false differences further down. Any pair of aligned lines that does not match exactly, down to spacing and capitalization, is flagged as a difference and shown side by side with its line number.
